Frontier football Players of the Week

Players from Eastern Oregon, Rocky Mountain College and Southern Oregon were named Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Offensive Player of the Week: Chase White, Rocky Mountain College, 6-foot-3, 210-pound, junior quarterback from Shelby. In Rocky’s 36-42 conference loss at Carroll College, White was 27 of 47 passing for 449 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed 11 times for 34 yards. Also nominated and listed in alphabetical order; Zach Bartlow of Eastern Oregon, Connor Fohn of Carroll College, Teejay Gordon of College of Idaho, Louis Macklin of Southern Oregon, Sam Rutherford of Montana Western and Nolan Saraceni of Montana Tech.

Defensive Player of the Week: Byron Benson, Eastern Oregon, 5-foot-9, 165-pound senior defensive back from Kent, Washington. In Eastern Oregon’s 33-21 conference victory over then No. 15 Montana Tech, Benson recorded four unassisted tackles, three assisted tackles, one tackle for loss and an interception. He also blocked a field goal. Also nominated and listed in alphabetical order; Rial Gunlikson of Montana Tech, Nate Moore of College of Idaho, Julius Rucker of Southern Oregon, Greg Tucker of Carroll College, Dakota Wainwright of Montana Western and Terrance Williams of Rocky Mountain College.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Matt Retzlaff, Southern Oregon University, 5-foot-10, 190-pound, junior wide receiver from Medford, Ore. In No. 4 Southern’s 42-27 conference win over College of Idaho, Retzlaff returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown. That broke a SOU school record for a punt return for a touchdown.
