Frontier Conference POWs

Following are the Frontier Conference Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 4.

FOOTBALL

Offensive Player of the Week: Tanner Trosin, Southern Oregon, 6-foot, 180-pound senior quarterback from Folsom, California. In No. 25 Southern Oregon’s 31-21 season opening conference win over No. 7 Eastern Oregon, Trosin, making his first start since game two of last season, went 21 of 33 passing for 311 yards and one touchdown. He rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries.

Also nominated: Mason Melby of Rocky Mountain College and Kai Quinn of Eastern Oregon.

Defensive Player of the Week: Nate Moore, College of Idaho, 5-foot-9, 185-pound senior defensive back from Meridian, Idaho. In College of Idaho’s 14-41 non-conference road loss at Northern Colorado, Moore recorded six solo tackles, seven assisted tackles, two tackles for loss (-14), one sack and one pass break up.

Also nominated: Justin Hughes of Eastern Oregon, Armando Gauger of Southern Oregon and Justin Hughes of Eastern Oregon.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Sam Sparks, Rocky Mountain, 5-foot-11, 180-pound sophomore running back from Billings. In Rocky Mountain’s 32-25 home conference win over MSU-Northern, Sparks returned a kick off 86 yards for a touchdown with 1:02 remaining in the game. As a running back he rushed for 114 yards.

Also nominated: Nathan Harden of Eastern Oregon and George Sherwood of Montana Western.

VOLLEYBALL

Attacker of the Week: Olivia L’ami, Rocky Mountain College, is a 5-foot-9 junior outside hitter from Casper, Wyoming. At the Menlo volleyball tournament, the Bears finished with a 3-1 record. Rocky defeated San Diego Christian (Calif.) 3-1, William Jessup (Calif.) 3-1 and Menlo (Calif.) 3-0 and lost to No. 7 Westmont (Calif.) 0-3. L’ami averaged 4.21 kills per set with a .326 hitting percentage.

Also nominated: Melissa Gonzalez of the University of Providence, Kelsey Potter of Montana Western and Timi Severson of MSU-Northern.

Defender of the Week: Holland Fergurson, Rocky Mountain College, is a 5-foot-8 senior libero from Montgomery, Texas. At the Menlo volleyball tournament, the Bears finished with a 3-1 record. Rocky defeated San Diego Christian (Calif.) 3-1, William Jessup (Calif.) 3-1 and Menlo (Calif.) 3-0 and lost to No. 7 Westmont (Calif.) 0-3. Fergurson averaged 6.81 digs per set.

Also nominated: Hannah Amtmann of MSU-Northern, Dylan Fowler of Montana Western and Kailey Rashford of the University of Providence.

Setter of the Week: Natalie Hilderman, Rocky Mountain College, is a 6-foot-1 freshman setter from Red Lodge. At the Menlo volleyball tournament, the Bears finished with a 3-1 record. Rocky defeated San Diego Christian (Calif.) 3-1, William Jessup (Calif.) 3-1 and Menlo (Calif.) 3-0 and lost to No. 7 Westmont (Calif.) 0-3. Hilderman averaged 9.21 assists and 3.07 digs per set.

Also nominated: McKenna Fink of Montana Western, Dani Norling of University of Providence and Hailey Warren of MSU-Northern.
