Frontier Conference Players of the Week

WHITEFISH — Following are the Frontier Conference Players of the Week released by the league today. The volleyball awards are in a separate story.

Football
Offensive Player of the Week: Tanner Trosin, Southern Oregon

Trosin is 6-foot, 180-pound senior quarterback from Folsom, California. No. 7 Southern Oregon stayed unbeaten with a 44-19 home win over (RV) Montana Western. Trosin was 33 of 47 passing for 502 yards and three touchdowns. It was the fifth 500-yard game in SOU history.

Also nominated Jed Fike of Montana Tech, Ryan Arntson of Carroll College, Calvin Connors of Eastern Oregon and Drew Korf of Rocky Mountain.

Defensive Player of the Week: Keenan Fagan, Rocky Mountain College
Fagan is a 5-11, 190-pound junior defensive back from Lake Tapps, Washington. In Rocky Mountain’s 30-27 conference road win over then No. 11 Montana Tech, Fagan recorded seven solo tackles, one pass breakup and two interceptions. The Rocky defense held the Orediggers under their average offensive output by half.

Also nominated: Nick Amstoy of Montana Tech, Oshay Dunmore of Southern Oregon, Jason Ferris of Montana Western, Justin Hughes of Eastern Oregon, Tucker Johnson of Carroll College and Nate Moore of College of Idaho.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Griff Amies, Rocky Mountain College
Amies is a 5-10, 160-pound senior kicker from Newport Beach, California. In Rocky Mountain’s 30-27 conference road win over then No. 11 Montana Tech, he was 3 of 3 in PAT’s and was 3 for 4 in field goals.

He kicked the game-winning 45-yard field goal as time ran out, sealing the Bears’ upset win.

Also nominated: Derrick Holt of Montana Tech, Nathan Harden of Eastern Oregon and Shane Sipes of Carroll College.

Men’s Basketball
Player of the Week: Austin Payne, Rocky Mountain College

Payne is a 6-5 junior forward from Garden Grove, California. Rocky Mountain opened its 2017-18 season with wins over Salish-Kootenai 118-69 and Yellowstone Christian 123-68.

Payne averaged 25 points, four rebounds, 1.5 steals and one block per game. He was 22 of 29 (76 percent) from the field, 4 of 7 in 3-point field goals (57 percent); and 2 for 3 from the free throw line.

Also nominated Dylan Pannabecker of Montana Tech, Cordel Hankerson of Lewis-Clark State, Jared Schultz of the University of Providence and Matt Wyman of Carroll College.

Women’s basketball
Player of the Week: Shiloh McCormick

McCormick is a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Lodge Grass, Mont. The Skylights downed Dickinson State (N.D.) 74-48.

McCormick scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. She was 9 of 15 from the field (60 percent) and 5 of 6 from the free throw line.

Also nominated: Jossilyn Blackman of Lewis-Clark State, Brooke Jones of Rocky Mountain and Parker Esary of the University of Providence.
