Frontier Conference Players of the Week

WHITEFISH — The Frontier Conference released the Players of the Week for football and basketball on Monday.


Offensive Player of the Week: Lucas Overton, Rocky Mountain College
Overton is a 6-foot-1,190-pound freshman wide receiver from Emmett, Idaho. In Rocky’s season ending 48-42 overtime win over Montana Western, Overton caught 15 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for three yards on two carries. On special teams, Overton had six kick returns for 214 yards including a 82-yard return for a touchdown. Also nominated: Dion Williams of Montana Tech, Major Ali of Carroll College, Matt Boudreaux of Southern Oregon, Tyler Cox of College of Idaho and Kai Quinn of Eastern Oregon.

Defensive Player of the Week: Justin Hughes, Eastern Oregon University
Hughes is a 5-10, 185-pound junior defensive back from Logandale, Nevada. In Eastern Oregon’s 41-34 overtime win over Carroll College, Hughes recorded eight solo tackles, nine assisted tackles and one pass breakup. Hughes had the game-ending tackle in overtime, stuffing the Carroll running back by himself on fourth and 1 to secure EOU’s season ending victory. Also nominated: Connor Wines of Montana Tech, Dareion Bell of Southern Oregon, Christian Hanser of Montana Western, Kendell Jefferson of Rocky Mountain and Drew Melton of Carroll College and Connor Wines of Montana Tech.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Nathan Harden, Eastern Oregon University
Harden is a6-foot, 185-pound junior kicker from Graham, Washington. In Eastern Oregon’s win over Carroll College, he was 4 for 4 in PAT’s and his 41-yard field goal tied the game as regulation time ended. In punting, he had seven punts, one of which was downed on Carroll’s one-yard line which led to an EOU safety. Also nominated: Dereck Holt of Montana Tech, Nik Lyons of College of Idaho, Lucas Overton of Rocky Mountain College and Dylan Torgerson of Carroll College.


Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: Jeremy Franklin, Lewis-Clark State
Franklin is a 6-6 senior forward from Escondido, California. Lewis-Clark State went 2-0 over the weekend with wins over Portland Bible College 92-66 and Warner Pacific (Oregon) 81-68. He averaged 23 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Franklin was 17 of 22 (77 percent) from the field, 6 of 8 in 3-point field goals (75 percent); and 6 of 9 from the free throw line. He scored 32 points in the victory over Portland Bible. Also nominated: Chris O’Neill of Montana Tech, Brandon Jones of Montana Western and Ryan Reeves of MSU-Northern.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week: Peyton Filius, MSU-Northern
Filius is a 5-6 senior guard from Havre. The Skylights won three games, beating Dickinson State (N.D.) 66-61, Northwest (Wash.) 77-48 and San Diego Christian 74-47. She averaged 16 points, 3.7 rebounds, three assists and one steal. She was 16 of 35 from the field (46 percent),12 of 22 3-point field goals (55 percent) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Also nominated: Shay Potter of Montana Tech, Brianna King of Montana Western, Hannah Dean of Carroll Collge, Lauren Johnson of Lewis-Clark State and Stephanie McDonagh of the University of Providence.
