Frontier announces weekly awards

WHITEFISH — Joel Barndt of Rocky Mountain College was named the Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Barndt is a 6-foot-9 junior forward from Billings, Mont. Rocky downed NCAA Division II Willamette 83-59.

Barndt had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He was 7 of 10 from the field.

Also nominated: P.J. Bolte of Lewis-Clark State, Alex Drecksel of Westminster College, Adam Greger of Montana Tech, Devin Jackson of Montana State- Northern, Dennis Mikelonis of Carroll College and Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls.

Women

Torrie Cahill of Carroll College was named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Cahill is a 5-foot-11 senior forward from Miles City, Mont. The Saints opened the conference season with a 56-50 road win over MSU-Northern. Carroll also beat Walla Walla 100-44.

For the weekend, she averaged 13.5 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals. She was 7 of 19 from the field and 12 of 19 from the free throw line.

Also nominated: Jordan Bruursema of Montana State-Northern, Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State, Tia Pappas of Westminster College and Mary Wilmore of the University of Great Falls.
