Friday’s Hot Ticket: Orediggers vs. Saints

Women’s college basketball
Carroll College at Montana Tech, 5:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (3-13, 13-14) will try for a third time to bring down the No. 8 Saints (12-4, 20-7) in the Frontier Conference game at the HPER Complex.

The Saints have two wins over Tech this season, both in Helena. Carroll won 65-49 Dec. 29 and 68-63 Jan. 15. Christine Denny scored 15 points to lead four Saints in double figures last time around. Hannah Dean and Jaidyn Lyman each scored 11, and Brittney Johnson tossed in 10. Dean is the reigning Frontier Conference Player of the Week.

Mollie Peoples scored 20 points to lead the Orediggers in that game. Dani Urick tossed in 11.

The game is the first of two home games against ranked teams this week. Tech closes the regular season against No. 24 Rocky Mountain College on Friday.

Men’s college basketball
Carroll College at Montana Tech, 7:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (5-11, 15-13) enter the final week of the regular season looking to salvage a game in the three-game series with the No. 7 Saints (12-4, 24-5).

Carroll took the first two meetings in Helena. The Saints won 76-68 Dec. 29 and 79-61 Jan. 15.

Matt Wyman scored 25 points to lead Carroll last time. Wyman, however, hasn’t played since Feb. 1 with an injury. Dane Warp and Ife Kalejaiye each scored 16, and Match Burnham scored 11.

Helena native Taylor England has had two of his best games for the Orediggers against the Saints. He scored 22 points and grabbed five rebounds in the last meeting. Troy Owens Jr. added 11 points, while Derrius Collins scored 10.

Tech’s final regular-season game is Saturday at home against Rocky Mountain College. The Battlin’ Bears received votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
