Friday’s Hot Ticket: Maroons, Dogs, Cobras

Prep girls’ basketball
Stevensville at Butte Central, 7:15 p.m.

The Maroons (1-10, 0-5) will play at home for the first time since Jan. 4 when they battle the Yellowjackets in the Southwestern A game at the Maroon Activities Center.

Sophomore Sofee Thatcher averages 8.7 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Maroons, who are looking to get over the victory hump for the first time since the season opener. Junior Maddie Kump scores 5.5 points and senior Emma Keeley tosses in 5.1.

Evynne Alexander’s 11.2 points and 8.3 rebounds leads the Yellowjackets (1-3, 3-7), who beat BC 43-24 Dec. 21 in Stevensville.

Prep boys’ basketball
Butte Central at Stevensville, 7 p.m.

The Maroons (11-0, 5-0) hit the road looking for the season sweep of the Yellowjackets (0-10, 0-4).

Senior Braden Harrington leads BC’s balanced attack, scoring 15.7 points per game. Trevor Neumann scores 8.4, while fellow Gator Yelenich, Jared Simkins and Luke Heaphy each average just over six points.

Kellan Beller averages 14.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for Stevi, who fell 51-37 to the Maroons Dec. 21 at the MAC.

Prep swimming
Hardin, Helena High and Helena Capital at Butte, 4 p.m.

The Butte Family YMCA will set the scene for a meet that was a late addition to the Bulldog schedule.

Butte High will also compete in a meet in Missoula on Saturday.

HA3HL Hockey
Butte at Gillette, Wyo., 7:05 p.m.

The Cobras hit the road for a two-game set with the Wild. Butte enters the weekend at 6-31. Gillette sits in fourth place in the Frontier Division at 16-20.

The Cobras will be home to take on Helena on Wednesday.
