Prep girls’ basketball
Belgrade at Butte Central, 6 p.m.
The girls open the non-conference doubleheader at the Maroon Activities Center.
The Maroons are looking to move to 2-1 after beating Whitefish 48-22 and falling to Ronan 34-30 last weekend at the Western A Tipoff Tournament in Frenchtown.
Sophomore Sofee Thatcher averaged 13.5 points per game to lead the Maroons on the opening weekend. Freshman Brooke Badovinac also posted a double-digit game with 10 points in the opener. In all, eight different BC players scored points in the first two games.
The Panthers, who moved to the Class AA this season, open their schedule Thursday night at Butte High.

Central’s boys look to stay unbeaten when they host the Panthers in the nightcap.
The Maroons rolled to easy wins at the Tipoff Tournament, beating Whitefish 62-43 before knocking off Ronan 64-43. Senior Braden Harrington averaged 24.5 points per game on the tournament. That included a career-high 33-point performance against Ronan.
Seniors Luke Heaphy and Trevor Neumann also posted double-figure games over the weekend. Nine different Maroons scored points in the two wins.
Belgrade opens the season Thursday night at Butte High.
Great Falls at Butte, 7:30 p.m.
The Butte Cobras will play their last home game of 2019 when thy welcome the Americans to Butte Community Ice Center.
The Americans bring their record into the contest. Butte is 4-22, but the Cobras are 3-3 over their last six games.
The Cobras will play at the NA3HL Showcase Sunday through Tuesday in Blaine, Minnesota. Butte’s next home game is Jan. 3 against Bozeman.
