Friday’s Hot Ticket: Bulldogs, Maroons hit the road

Butte High at Senior, 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 6-7) hit the road to take on the Broncs (2-4, 4-9) in a doubleheader. Game 1 of the twin bill will count in Eastern AA standings. The second game will be non-conference. Butte High swept the Broncs 7-2 and 7-5 in a doubleheader April 10 in Butte. The Bulldogs are coming off Tuesday’s 7-2 win over Bozeman. Tristan Walks belted a three-run home run and freshman pitcher Kaidy McClafferty struck out 10 batters in that win. Last time out for Senior saw the Broncs fall 16-5 to defending Class AA State champion Billings West. Butte High plays a doubleheader at noon Saturday at Billings Skyview. Both games will count in conference standings.

Butte Central at Frenchtown Invite
The Maroons (4-4 overall) will play three non-conference games at the two-day tournament. BC’s first action is at 6 p.m. Friday against host. Frenchtown. The Maroons play Libby at 11 a.m. Saturday before closing the tournament at 3 p.m. against Columbia Falls. Butte Central is coming off Tuesday’s 7-3 win at Livingston. That game saw ace Teresa Piazzola return to action and strike out 11 batters. Leadoff hitter Shawnee Hjelt led the BC offense with a triple and a double.

Butte High at Great Falls Invite, 8:30 a.m.

The Bulldogs will see some serious competition at the two-day tournament as they gear up for the divisional tournament, which is only two weeks away. Action begins 8 a.m. on Saturday.
