Friday’s Hot Ticket: Bulldogs, Maroons, Cobras

Boys’ prep basketball
Butte High at Billings Skyview, 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs (2-5 overall, 0-2 conference) hit the road to take on the Falcons (5-3, 1-2).

Butte High is coming off Tuesday’s 62-52 non-conference home win over Dillon. Clay Ferguson scored 18 points to lead Butte High in that win. Fellow senior Danny McCloskey tossed in 14 as Butte High stopped a four-game losing streak.

Skyview fell 59-39 to Billings West Thursday night. Cam Ketchum, a 6-foot-2 sophomore, averages 13.4 points per game to lead the Falcons. Junior Julius Mims (6-7) adds 10.9 points and 6.4 points per game, while senior Zach Schacht (6-10) contributes with 10.4 points and 6.0 rebounds.

Butte High will stay in Billings to play West High on Saturday.

Frenchtown at Butte Central, 7:15 p.m.
The Maroons (10-0, 5-0) will go for the season sweep of the Broncs (8-3, 3-2) when the teams meet in a Southwestern A game at the Maroon Activities Center.

The Maroons beat Frenchtown 54-45 in the first meeting, which was Dec. 14 in Frenchtown.

Junior Braden Harrington paces the unbeaten Maroons with 14.1 points per game. Senior Cade Holter adds 12.4 points to the balanced BC lineup.

Cade Baker averages 14.0 points per game to lead the Broncs, who beat Stevensville 61-46 Thursday night in Frenchtown.

The Maroons will host Stevensville on Saturday.

Girls’ prep basketball
Billings Skyview at Butte High, 7 p.m.

The Civic Center will set the scene as the Bulldogs (5-2, 2-0) shoot for their fifth straight win. The Falcons (0-8, 0-3), meanwhile, are searching their first win.

Butte High beat Dillon 62-35 Tuesday night at the Civic Center. Aspen Lovshin scored 17 points to lead three Bulldogs in double figures in that win. Fellow senior Ally Cleverly scored 14, while Junior Haley Herron finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Brooke Berry, a 5-11 freshman, averages 13.3 points per game to lead the Falcons, who fell 59-15 to Billings West on Tuesday. Butte High will host West Saturday at the Civic Center.

Butte Central at Frenchtown, 4 p.m.
This game will be played at Missoula Loyola’s Sister Rita Mudd Activity Center. The game was moved because of a threat to the Frenchtown school. The junior varsity game begins at 2:30.

Central (4-6, 3-2) looks for its fourth win in five games. The Maroons are also looking for a little revenge. Frenchtown beat BC 33-32 when Cassidy Bagnell banked in a jump shot with 10 seconds left Dec. 14 at the MAC. Hailey Arthur paced Frenchtown with 10 points that night.

Senior Tricia Joyce is averaging 11.1 points per game to lead the Maroons. Junior Emma Keeley adds 8.8 points, while freshman Sofee Thatcher averages 8.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Broncs took marks of 6-4 and 3-1 into Thursday’s scheduled game against Stevensville.

BC plays at Stevi on Saturday.

Missoula at Butte Cobras, 7:30 p.m.

The Cobras open the weekend against the Junior Bruins at the Butte Community Ice Center. Butte will travel to Bozeman to take on the Icedogs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
