Friday’s Hot Ticket: Bulldogs, Cobras

Prep wrestling
Western AA Divisional Qualifying at Sentinel, 4 p.m.

Now it gets real for the Bulldog boys.

Missoula Big Sky will set the scene as the Bulldogs look to qualify wrestlers for the All-Class State Tournament in Billings. Butte High and Kalispell Flathead will send the maximum of 26 wrestlers to the tournament. Kalispell Glacier and Helena Capital will both second 23.

The top eight individuals from each weight class will advance to Billings next week. Saturday’s action begins at 10 a.m.

Flathead comes to town at 1-10 overall and 1-6 in Western AA play. Butte High is 2-9 and 5-2.

Jace Stenson poured in 19 points, and Butte High overcame a 22-point deficit to beat the Braves 65-59 Jan. 7 in Kalispell. Kooper Klobucar added 14 points in the win, and Kenley Leary tossed in 11.

Joston Cripe scored 16 points to lead the Breves. Cavin Chuinard and Joe Hansen each scored 12, and Luca Zoeller tossed in 10.

The Bulldogs will host Kalispell Glacier at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Richardson Gym.

Prep girls’ basketball
Butte High at Flathead, 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs (7-4, 3-4) hit the road to take on the Bravettes (10-1, 6-1) for the second time this season.

Flathead is coming off its first loss of the season, a 58-22 defeat Saturday at Missoula Hellgate. The Bravettes downed Butte High 50-44 when the teams met Jan. 7 at the Butte Civic Center.

Clare Converse scored 16 points to lead the Bravettes in the first meeting. Maddy Moy added 14. Ashley Olson’s 11 points and eight rebounds paced the Bulldogs. Tylar Clary scored 10, while Brooke McGrath and Emmarie Richards followed with nine and eight.

NA3HL hockey
Sheridan at Butte, 7:30 p.m.

The Cobras will be home for two games with the Hawks this weekend at the Butte Community Ice Center.

Sheridan comes to town at 6-34-1 in NA3HL Frontier Division standings. Butte is 15-23-2 after two home losses to first-place Gillette last weekend.

The Cobras and Hawks will play at 7 p.m. Saturday.
