Friday’s Hot Ticket: Basketball, wrestling

Butte Central at Frenchtown, 7:15 p.m.

The Maroons open Southwestern A play on the road against the Broncs.

Both teams went 2-0 at last week’s Western A Tip-off Tournament in Missoula Butte Central beat Columbia Falls and Browning, while Frenchtown knocked off Ronan and Columbia Falls. Brothers Cade and Zack Baker lead the Broncs into action. Both players averaged 16 points per game in the opening weekend.

BC junior Braden Harrington scored a total of 39 points in BC’s two victories.

The Maroons open at home looking for their first victory of the young season.

BC is coming off losses to Columbia Falls and Browning in last week’s Western A Tip-off Tournament. BC senior Tricia Joyce poured in 15 points to lead an improved BC in Saturday’s loss. Madison Kump and Sofee Thatcher followed with 11 and nine.

Frenchtown went 1-1 last weekend, beating Ronan and falling to Columbia Falls.

CMR Holiday Classic, 11 a.m.

Butte High and Butte Central will compete at one of the biggest tournaments of the season. Each weight class features a 64-person bracket.

No. 3-ranked Butte High is coming off a strong showing at last week’s Mining City Duals Jim Street Classic. Sophomore Keagan Gransbery (103 pounds) and junior Kameron Moreno (205) are ranked No. 1 in the Class AA.
