Following is a rundown of the Butte sports action on tap for Friday, Dec. 21.

Prep Boys’ Basketball
Butte High at Missoula Hellgate, 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs look to snap a three-game losing streak and head into the Christmas break on a winning note when they hit the road to take on the Knights in a non-conference game. It won’t be easy. Hellgate is 4-0 and highly talented. Tres Tinkle scored 17 points last time out in a 52-41 win at Great Falls High last Friday. Brady Henthorn added 15 points in the win. Butte High (1-3) is coming off last week’s 65-55 home loss to Missoula Big Sky. Dallas Cook averages a team-leading 17.3 points per game for the Bulldogs. Peter Granger scores 14.8. Brian Smith averages just over 10 points after three straight double-digit games.

Prep Girls’ Hoops
Missoula Hellgate at Butte High, 7:30 p.m.

The Butte Civic Center is the site as the Bulldogs close out their pre-Christmas slate with a non-conference game against the 1-3 Knights. Hellgate’s last action was a 63-39 home loss to Great Falls High last Friday. Lexi Duce scored 16 points to lead the Knights in that loss. Butte High is coming off last week’s 61-54 win at Missoula Big Sky. Hailey Hoagland scored 17 points in that win. She averages a team-best 12.3 points per game. Natalee Faupel averages 11.3 points per game for the Bulldogs, who also got double-digit performances out of Sammy McGree, Hattie Thatcher and Ashten McCloskey.
