Prep cross country
Butte Invitational, 1 p.m.
Butte High’s cross country teams will run at home for the only time this season Friday at Stodden Park.
Including the Bulldogs and Butte Central Maroons, 37 teams will compete in the meet. That includes all 16 Class AA schools.
The junior varsity girls open the meet at 1 p.m., with the JV boys following at 1:40. The girls’ varsity will run at 2:10 p.m., and the varsity boys go at 2:40. The event wraps up with the middle school race at 3:10.
College volleyball
University of Providence at Montana Tech, 7 p.m.
The No. 15 Orediggers open Frontier Conference play against the No. 10 Argonauts at the HPER Complex.
Tech enters conference with a 12-3 record. Providence is 13-2.
College cross country
Montana Tech at Montana Open in Missoula
The Oredigger teams will run again one day after the men and women both received votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
Tech will compete against a field that includes the University of Montana, MSU-Billings and the Frontier Conference schools.
NA3HL hockey
Butte at Sheridan, 7:30 p.m.
The Cobras play the first of two NA3HL Frontier Division games against the Hawks this weekend.
Butte hits the road with a 1-2 record. The Hawks are 0-4.
