The Bulldogs (5-4, 2-2) are back in action for the first time in eight days when they take on the Golden Bears in a key Eastern AA twin bill at Stodden Park. The first game counts in conference standings, while the second game is a non-conference tilt. West swept the Bulldogs 7-4 and 4-3 April 12 in Billings. Shortstop Katey Walsh hit a pair of home runs as Butte High split a slugfest doubleheader last Thursday at Great Falls High.
Butte Central at Frenchtown Invite
The Maroons (3-2) open the two-day tournament at 6 p.m. against defending Class A State champion Polson. BC takes Libby and Columbia Falls on Saturday. (Click here for the full tournament schedule.) The Maroons are coming off Tuesday’s walk-off win over Anaconda. Mikayla Boggs’ game-winning single came moments after a three-run home run by Shannon McLaughlin. Freshman Teresa Piazzola has emerged as a star for BC in the pitchers’ circle.
Butte High at Great Falls Invite, 9 a.m.
The Bulldogs will get a look at some tough competition in the two-day tournament. Butte High hasn’t competed since taking on Missoula Big Sky last Thursday in Missoula. The Butte boys’ fell 5-3, while the girls’ tied 4-all.
