Frenchtown turns back Maroons in four

FRENCHTOWN — Wednesday just was not Butte Central’s night.

Frenchtown used four sets to knock off the Maroons in a Southwestern A volleyball match. The Broncs won 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22.

“We started off slow tonight, and it felt like we were playing catch up the rest of the night,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “This team is capable of playing big, but we haven’t exactly found our rhythm yet.”

Freshman Ella Moodry smacked 11 kills, while Amira Bolton added 10 kills and 13 digs to lead the Maroons, who fell to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in league play. Avery Kelly contributed with eight kills and five stuff blocks.

Maci Reopelle, who handed out 34 assists while running the offense, joined Bolton with 13 digs. Sophia Burton collected 10 digs, and Sofee Thatcher dug eight.

The match was a make up of one postponed last month. The Maroons have little time to rebound. They play at Dillon Thursday night.

“We’ve got to just put this one behind us and look to what we need to do tomorrow in playing Dillon,” Hancock said.
