Fowler wins Frontier Award for fifth time

WHITEFISH — Montana Western volleyball Dylan Fowler was named the Frontier Conference Defender of the Week, the league announced today.

This marks the fifth time this season Fowler has received the award.

Fowler is a 5-5 senior libero from Belgrade. The Bulldogs lost at Carroll College 3-2 before recording their first conference win with a 3-0 sweep of MSU-Northern. Fowler averaged 6.63 digs per set including 31 against Carroll.

Butte High graduate Hannah Amtmann of MSU-Northern, Sabrina Hopcroft of Montana Tech, Averi Dyer of the University of Providence, Ruby Kallenbach of Rocky Mountain College and Lexi Mikkelsen of Carroll College were also nominated.

Attacker of the Week: Kelsey Shaver of the University of Providence
Shaver is a 5-10 junior outside hitter from Scotts Valley, California. No. 24 Providence downed No. 23 Montana Tech 3-1 in their only match of the week. Shaver averaged 5.50 kills per set with a .299 hitting percentage. Defensively, she averaged 5.75 digs per set.

Kylie McCree of Montana Western, Masha Korol of Montana Tech,  Brielle Bumgarner of Carroll College, Hailey Copinga of Rocky Mountain College and Emily Gutierrez of MSU-Northern were also nominated.

Setter of the Week: Aliya Williams of Carroll College
Williams is a 6-1, freshman setter from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Saints won their only match of the week when they edged Montana Western 3-2. Williams averaged 6.60 assists, 3.60 digs and 2.20 kills per set.

Hannah Liss of Montana Tech, Karen Kale of Montana Western, Natalie Hilderman of Rocky Mountain College, Paige Jensen of the University of Providence and McKaylie Tanner of MSU-Northern were also nominated.
