CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — The 2021-22 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team was announced Thursday with a total of 1,485 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor and four Orediggers made the list. Montana Tech’s four selections were the most in the Frontier Conference.
The four Orediggers named to the 2021-2022 WGCA All-American Scholar Team were junior Emily Kelly and freshmen Samantha Benson, Franchi Ceartin, and Cierra Sundheim.
“Having Montana Tech so well represented on this prestigious list is a great accomplishment for our women’s golf program,” Tech coach Sean Ryan said. “I am very proud of them for all their hard work in the classroom as well as on the course.”
During the 2021-22 golf season, Kelly, Benson, Ceartin, and Sundheim helped the Oredigger women’s golf program to one of their most successful seasons in school history setting multiple school scoring records.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
