Four Oredigger football players honored

ROME, Ga. — For members of the Montana Tech football team were named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 259 honorees today.

Making the team from Montana Tech were Rob Corson, Joe Mitzel, Tyson Schriver and Brian Schwarzkoph.

Corson  is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound linebacker from Columbus.

Mitzel is a 5-9, 170-pound defensive back from Missoula.

Schriver is a 5-10, 215-pound fullback/long snapper from Billings.

Schwarzkoph is a 6-2, 202-pound junior quarterback from Billings.

Head coaches nominate players for the team. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The American Football Coaches Association NAIA All-American team and the Rawlings NAIA Football Player of the Year award will be announced Wednesday.

Jesse McLeoud and Dillon’s Torrey Vezina were named Scholar-Athletes from Montana Western. Levi Coughlin, Garett Graff, Tyler Jacobsen, Galen Mills, Dustin Rinker, Michael Siegersma, Ryan Swenson, Nathan Woods and Will Wright were honored from Carroll College.
