Four Butte Central golfers will tee off at the Old Works Friday and Saturday as the course Jack Nicklaus built plays host to the Class A State tournament. Play starts at 8 a.m. both days.
Derek Ralph, Cal Hollow, Jack Gallagher and Regan Weldon qualified for the Maroons at Saturday’s Southwestern A Divisional tournament at the Anaconda Country Club.
The Maroons won’t have enough players to complete for a team score, so the golfers will basically be on their own.
Ralph is a senior looking to cap a strong season. He placed fourth at Divisionals with an 83. Hollow, a freshman, qualified at sixth place with an 85, while Gallagher, a senior, advanced with a 92.
Led by freshman sensation Caleb Stetzner, Anaconda is the Southwest A champ and a contender for the state title on its home course.
On the girls’ side, Weldon moved on with a 12th place finish at Divisionals. The freshman didn’t have one of her best rounds in what has been a promising debut season.
The Anaconda girls are also looking to be in the title hunt in their hometown. With McKenah Blume wining medalist honors, the Copperheads won the divisional title on Saturday.
