Four Frontier teams still alive at national tourney

Four Frontier Conference basketball teams are still holding onto NAIA national championship dreams after the first round of the men’s and women’s national tournaments.

On Thursday, Carroll College’s men’s team knocked off Peru State 99-82 in a first-round game at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Lewis-Clark State College men downed Xavier of Louisiana 69-68 in overtime.

The Saints (22-9) will play LSU-Alexandra (28-3) in a second-round game at 5:15 p.m. (Mountain Time) Friday. Lewis-Clark State (29-4) will battle Our Lady of the Lake (21-8) from Texas at 8:45. Schedule

In the women’s tournament in Independence, Missouri, Lewis-Clark State and the University of Great Falls are still in the hunt.

LC beat Oklahoma City 67-52 on Wednesday. Great Falls knocked off Central Methodist 70-58 on Thursday.

Carroll College bowed out with a 51-44 loss to Freed-Hardeman of Tennessee.

The Warriors (26-6) will play Cumberland (18-11) of Tennessee at 1:15 today. The Argos (23-10) will battle Lyon (30-3) of Arkansas at 5:15. Schedule

The Montana Western men and MSU-Northern women lost out on Wednesday.
