One former Butte High Bulldog and three former Butte Central stars are on the 2012 University of Montana roster.
The media guide was released Tuesday afternoon. It listed short biographies on the three returning players from Butte — Jake Dallaserra from Butte High and cousins Jonathan and Aschan Richards from Butte Central.
Former Maroon Jake Simkins, a 6-5, 220-pound walk-on freshman offensive lineman, has been issued No. 51. The media guide didn’t have a write up on the most recent Grizzly from Butte.
Following is what the Grizzly media guide has to say about Dallaserra and the Richards cousins.
Jake Dallaserra, WR, 5-11, 180
Montana: Jake played well in the spring, and is competing for playing time.
2011: He redshirted at Montana.
High School: He was an outstanding wrestler at Butte High School, where he had a career record of 100-8, and won state championships in 2008 (at 105 pounds) and 2011 (when he went 34-2 at 160 pounds), and was the runner-up in 2009…team captain in wrestling his senior year… second team all-state at wide receiver and safety as a senior…lettered four times in wrestling, three times in football, and twice in track…his prep coaches were Arie Grey in football and Kevin Parvinen in wrestling.
Personal: His major is business. Birth date: Feb. 24, 1993. His parents are Jerry Dallaserra and Marki Kissell of Butte.
No. 48 Jonathan Richards, WLB, 6-3, 208
Montana: Jonathan had a solid spring and could see action at linebacker and on special teams.
2011: He was a redshirt at UM.
High School: He earned 12 letters at Butte Central High School: four each in football, basketball, and track…all-state in all three sports, twice in football and hoops his junior and senior season, and in track as a junior… played defensive end and wide receiver…was a team captain in football and basketball…he was an outstanding receiver with 95 career receptions, including a single-season school record 55 catches in 2009…when his team lost its starting quarterback due to injury his senior year he switched positions and threw for 1,790 yards and 21 touchdowns, rushed for 379 yards and six TDs and guided the Maroons to a 9-2 record that season…. his high school football coach was Don Peoples.
Personal: His major is history. Birth date: Sept. 19, 1992. His parents are Cyndy and Toby Richards of Butte. His cousin, Aschan Richards, is a redshirt tight end at UM.
No. 89 Aschan Richards, Montana: Aschan is competing for “PT” at tight end.
2011: He was a redshirt at Montana.
High School: He was a first team all-state selection at Butte Central High School at tight end…first team all-conference at tight end and at defensive end…also lettered in basketball and track.
Personal: He is undecided on a major. Birth date: July 10, 1992. His cousin, Jonathan Richards, is a redshirt linebacker at UM.
