Four Butte golfers win Hamilton Masters

HAMILTON — Butte golfers won four of the five age groups at the Hamilton Masters today at the Hamilton Golf Club.

Will Kilmer, Isaiah Weldon, Shaelyn Hafer and Tricia Joyce of Butte won their respective age groups in the tournament that was the third stop on the South West Montana Junior Golf Tour.

Kilmer and Hafer won the top age groups. Kilmer fired an 84 to easily top the Tiger Woods Division for boys 16-17. Taggart Sullivan was second at 93, while Andy Kelly of Butte placed third with a 96.

Hafer, who had a strong showing at the Montana State Golf Association’s State Junior Championships in Laurel, won the Suzann Pettersen Division for girls 16-17 with an 81. Butte High teammate Hailey Ogolin was second at 87.

In the Rory McIlroy Division (boys 14-15), Weldon carded an 80 for the victory. Houston Green of Butte was second at 84, while Riley Lawrence of Helena placed third at 92.

Fresh off her state championship, Joyce won the Stacy Lewis Division (girls 14-15) with a 98. The second-place finisher was 23 shots back.

Hamilton’s Tristan Hanson claimed the Phil Mickelson Division (boys 12-13) title with a 42. He beat Whitehall’s Max Feight by three shots. Butte’s Erik Casagranda was third at 46.

The eight-stop tour will take two weeks off. The next tournament is the July 14 Fairmont Invitational.
