Former Oredigger Jones mentioned on NFL.com

Ryan Jones didn’t receive any post-season honors after last football season.

The former Montana Tech player, however, has size, speed and athletic ability that NFL scouts have not ignored. The path to the NFL draft could include an Oredigger.

Jones was mentioned as one of 15 under-the-radar players whose stock is rising in the NFL circles by a report on NFL.com.

According to the article, Jones, who is listed as 6-foot-3 1/2 and 249 pounds, ran a 4.68-second time in the 40 during a pro day. He also posted a 34-inch vertical jump, a 6.95-second time in the three-cone drill and 28 bench-press reps.

Jones played two seasons for the Orediggers. He started as a junior transfer in 2011. He played defensive end before moving to linebacker.

After missing the 2012 season with an injury, Jones returned to the Orediggers to record 83 tackles in 2013. That includes eight and a half tackles for a loss and five sacks.

The NFL draft is May 8-10.
