A former Butte Central standout will take over the girls’ basketball program.
The school announced today that Quinn (Peoples) Carter will take over for retiring Meg Murphy.
Carter was a standout member of the BC Basketball program from 2007-2011 and helped lead the team to their first state championship since 1982.
After high school, Carter continued her basketball career at MSU-Billings, where she helped lead the team to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
In 2015, she returned to Butte Central as an assistant coach and has continued in that role for the last seven years including the 2016 undefeated, state championship team.
“Butte Central is incredibly lucky to have someone like Quinn who is so passionate and knowledgeable leading the Lady Maroon Basketball Program” Butte Central Activities Director Chad Petersen said. “While we’ll certainly miss Meg when the basketball season starts in November, I have no doubt Quinn will continue and build upon the foundation of success Meg established over the years.
“As a former Lady Maroon and assistant coach, Quinn has been invested and very dedicated to the success of our girls’ program and I’m thrilled she will be taking on this new role as head coach.”
