Foley, Oswald finish in top 10 in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — Butte runners Don Foley and Lance Oswald finished in the top 10 overall at the Bozeman Marathon Sunday morning.

Foley, running on his 43rd birthday, placed eighth with a time of 3 hours, 10 minutes, 43 seconds in the 26.2-mile race. Oswald, 42, placed 10th in 3:17:09.

Foley and Oswald also placed second and third in the men’s 40-44 age group. Layne Ryerson a 17-year-old runner from Helena won the race in 2:45:22.

Three other Butte runners competed in the event. Chris Vetter (4:42:55), Rody Vetter (4:42:57) and Vivienne Akey (4:42:48) finished the race together.

Seth Garbett, 22, of Bozeman won the half marathon in 1:07:25.

The half marathon included a handful runners who listed butte as their hometown.

John Tomich, 52, was the fastest Butte runner, finishing in 1:45:37. Other Butte runners were Kate McGree (1:50:18),  Zach Stevens (1:54:07), Matt Rachor (1:56:24), Mauren Tomich (2:03:23), Lance Elias (2:04:46) and Matthew Brady (2:10:51).
