Fitts ties 3-point record, Orediggers rout Bison

HELENA — Montana Tech sophomore Nick Fitts tied a school record for the most 3-point field goals made in a single game Saturday night, and the Orediggers beat the Salish Kootenai College 125-67 at the Carroll College P.E. Center. (Stats)

The non-conference game was part of the inaugural Carroll Classic.

Fitts hit 12 of 15 shots from 3-point land and scored 39 points in the victory. He tied the 3-point record set by Davin Blixt against the University of Great Falls (now the University of Providence) in 2006.

His 39 points was one shy of the school record set by Bryan Bock against Dickinson State in 2013.

Fitts, a Nampa, Idaho, product, did his damage off the bench. He was one of five Orediggers to score in double figures against the Bison, who had just five players play in the game.

Taylor England scored 18, Blake Dittman tossed in 14, William Mytty scored 11, and Christian Jones netted 10. Tech also got nine from Derrius Collins, eight from Luke Peynenborg, five from Cody Liles, four from Nate Ward and Carson Dummer and two from Dylan Pannabecker.

Julian Jones scored 23 to lead Salish Kootenai.

The Orediggers (8-2) open Frontier Conference play Thursday at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.
