Butte Olympian Brad Wilson was among the 58 entries set to launch the World Cup freestyle skiing men’s moguls circuit on Friday.
The tour begins with the meet in Ruka, Finland, a competition at which both Wilson and his older brother, Bryon, have experienced success. Brad Wilson was a member of the 2016 United States Olympic team, and Bryon Wilson captured the Bronze Medal in the event at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Brad Wilson, 26, is ranked sixth in the world as the new tour begins and leads the U.S. entrants. Bryon Wilson, 30, is not listed as an entrant in the season’s first meet.
Bryon Wilson is a 2006 graduate of Butte High School and Brad Wilson graduated from Butte Central in 2011. Both also competed in gymnastics while growing up in Butte, where they also took part in other sports. Bryon Wilson played second base as an American Legion baseball player, and Brad Wilson was on the Butte Central tennis team.
Their skiing commitments prevented them from playing other sports in Butte as they split their time between The Mining City and the Park City, Utah, Olympic Training Camp for winter sports.
