Ferriter scores point for MSU men

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Butte Central graduate Sean “Diesel” Ferriter scored a point for the Montana State men’s track team Friday at the Outdoor Championships.

Ferriter, a sophomore, placed eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 179 foot, 5 inches, giving the Bobcats one point.

MSU teammate David Phillips of Deer Lodge won the event with a throw of 213-02.

The Bobcat sit in fifth place heading into Saturday’s final day. Montana is sixth. Weber State’s men hold the lead.

Eastern Washington sits in the lead on the women’s side. MSU is ninth, while Montana is 10th.

Butte High graduate Keli Dennehy competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Grizzlies. She aggravated an injury that plagued her the past couple of weeks and did not finish.
