Faupel, Montana stars top Wyoming

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Butte’s Natalee Faupel scored seven points and grabbed a key rebound down the stretch Friday night to help the Montana girls top Wyoming 70-69 in the opener of the two-game all-star basketball series at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at Sheridan College.

Faupel, who graduated from Butte High Tuesday night, scored all of her points from the free throw line. The future MSU-Northern player hit 7 of 8 free tosses.

Laurel star Jayde LeFever scored a game-high 19 points. Stevensville’s Alycia Sims, a University of Montana signee, scored 15.

Game 2 is at 6 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Montana’s girls have won 12 of the last 13 games and lead the series 23-10 all time.
