Farris, Blake win Frontier awards

WHITEFISH — E.J. Farris of Lewis-Clark State College and Alli Blake of Westminster College were named the Frontier Conference basketball Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Farris, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Newark, Calif., took home the men’s award as the Warriors swept their final regular-season weekend, beating No. 21 Westminster College 89-83 and Montana Western 83-67.

He averaged 27 points, three rebounds and one steal per game. Farris was 15 of 31 from the field (48 percent), 8 of 18 for 3-point field goals (44 percent) and 16 of 18 free throws (89 percent). In the win over No. 21 Westminster, he was 13 of 14 from the free throw line.

Bryan Bock of Montana Tech, Maazin Butler of Montana Wester, Joel Barndt of Rocky Mountain College, Tallon Robertson of Westminster College, Zach Taylor of Carroll College and Roshawn West of Montana State-Northern were also nominated for the award.

Blake, a 5-foot-11 senior forward from Kaysville, Utah, won the women’s award as the Griffins finished the regular season unbeaten in the Frontier Conference with roads wins over the No. 16 Lewis-Clark State 67-65 and Montana Tech 79-58.

She averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, 5.5 assists, one steal and one block. Blake was 20 of 34 from field (59 percent) and 8 of 11 from the free throw line (72 percent). She scored the game-winning basket against Lewis-Clark State with four seconds remaining.

Kabri Emerson of Montana Tech, A’jha Edwards of Montana State-Northern, Brittany Kumm of Rocky Mountain College, Brittaney Nierbergall of Lewis-Clark State and Bailey Snelling of Carroll College were also nominated.
