BILLINGS — Billings Skyview pounded 30 hits in two games Saturday as the Falcons swept Butte High in an Eastern AA softball doubleheader.

Skyview won the opener 8-5 before completing the sweep with a 21-5 win in Game 2 on the cold, windy afternoon. The second game was stopped after six innings by the 10-run rule.

The doubleheader is the only time the Bulldogs will face the Falcons in the regular season this year.

“We’ll regroup and they’ll be alright,” Butte High coach Ryan Stosich said of his young Bulldogs. “Hopefully they’ll keep learning”

Bulldog pitcher Kaidy McClafferty pitched both games against the powerful Falcon lineup. Stosich said it will serve as a learning experience for his ace heading into Thursday’s conference doubleheader at home against Great Falls High.

“Kaidy just kind of ran out of gas,” Stosich said. “She was up there in the pitch count. But it will help her against Great Falls High. She’ll have to do it again Thursday.”

First, Butte High will play at Bozeman on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1

Tyler Fluery hit a pair of home runs and racked up four RBIs to lead the Falcons in the opener.

Skyler Chartier and Kaylee Kannegiesser each hit a double for Skyview, which poked 13 hits in the first game. Abbey Bryan picked up the win in the pitchers’ circle.

Jenna Walker hit a double and a single and drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs. Kennedi Ferriter and Jenna Maroney each hit two singles, while Brianna Ossello, Taylor Huff and Isabelle Bonney added one.

The Falcons jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. They put the game away with 15 runs in the sixth inning.

Bryan, Chartier, Briana Guse, Breezy Nafts and Justine O’Donnell hit doubles in the 17-hit attack. Bryan also hit a pair of singles, while O’Donnell and winning pitcher Allyssa Baxter each drove in three runs.

Maroney hit a double and a single for the Bulldogs. Brittney Tierney, MacKensie Daily, Ossello, Ferriter and Bonney each hit a single.
