WHITEFISH — Players from Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon were named Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Austin Dodge, Southern Oregon, 6-foot-2, 205-pound, sophomore quarterback from Vancouver, Wash. In Southern’s 54-14 victory over Montana Western, Dodge was 26 of 39 passing for 347 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed for 19 yards on four carries.
Other players nominated: Bryce Baker of Rocky Mountain College, Nick Baker of Montana Tech, Jace Billingsley of Eastern Oregon and Jared Hunt of Carroll College.
Defensive Player of the Week: Howard McDonald, Eastern Oregon, 5-foot-9, 217-pound, senior, linebacker, from Silverdale, Wash. In Eastern’s 26-23 victory over Montana Tech, McDonald had 20 solo tackles, one assisted tackle, three tackles for losses of 17 yards, two quarterback sacks, one pass break up and one forced fumble. His 20 solo tackles is the second-most tackles in Eastern Oregon history. Also nominated; Travis Bertelsen of Rocky Mountain College, Sean Blomquist of Carroll College and Ra Sjeon Hines of Southern Oregon.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Mike Olson, Southern Oregon, 5-foot-8, 180-pound senior wide receiver, Colfax, Calif. In Southern’s 54-14 victory over Montana Western, Olson had four punt returns for 89 yards including a 69 yard return for a touchdown. On offense, he scored a touchdown rushing and one receiving. Also nominated Paul Blakely of Eastern Oregon, Colter Rood of Carroll College and Jake Scharbrough of Rocky Mountain College.
