Vincent Mastrandrea and the Colorado Junior Eagles didn’t get the memo that the Butte Cobras were playing their first home game in nearly a month Friday night.

Mastrandrea scored four goals, and the Eagles knocked off the Cobras 8-5 in a WSHL Junior A game at the Butte Community Ice Center. The game was the first of a three-game weekend set between the two teams. Stats

Jan Marcilis scored a pair of goals for the Cobras. Ryan Meyer, Ted Astrom and Kristers Bormanis each added one for the Cobras.

Colorado led 2-1 after the first period and 5-3 after two.

The Cobras tied the game when Marcilis and Meyer scored goals about a minute apart midway through the final frame.

Matt Jung, though, put the Eagles on top for good with a goal with 8 minutes, 19 seconds left on the clock.

Mastrandrea added his fourth goal four minutes later before Carter Dahl knocked in a goal in the final minutes.

Astrom added a pair of assists for the Cobras, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Amandus Laukkanen also picked up two assists, while Tyson Liverance, Dominik Hula, Vaclav Beran, Artsion Puntas and Bormanis each added one.

Butte’s Lukas Sadlon racked up 41 saves between the pipes. The Eagles out shot Butte 49-30.

The Cobras (5-7) and Eagles (8-4) will play again Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s game begins at 7 p.m., while the puck drops on Sunday’s matinee at 2 p.m.

Fans will be admitted free to Sunday’s game.
