Dylan Ziter takes over Western cross country program

DILLON — Athletic director Ryan Nourse has announced that Dillon, Mont. native Dylan Zitzer will join Bulldog Athletics as the new head coach for the men’s and women’s cross-country programs.

Zitzer will succeed coach Lynn Reynolds, who has worked for the past year to build the rosters for the new Bulldog cross-country teams, which will enter the Frontier Conference in the fall of 2015.

“Lynn has done an incredible job of starting our cross-country program,” Nourse said. “His work ethic, attention to detail and knowledge of the Montana cross-country landscape have allowed us to develop an outstanding fall schedule and recruit the first ever class of Montana Western cross-country student-athletes.”

Zitzer competed in cross-country and track at NAIA member Concorida University in Portland, Ore., while earning a degree in Biology. This May he will complete a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Western Governors University.

Since completing his undergraduate education, Zitzer has served as a cross-country coach at locations throughout Montana, including Beaverhead County High School, Flathead Distance Running Camp and Red Lodge High School.

“Dylan brings an incredible amount of energy and enthusiasm to this position,” Nourse said. “His competitive experience in the NAIA, coupled with his experience as both a coach and athlete in Montana will allow him to hit the ground running as he finishes recruiting for the 2015 team, and builds the future of Montana Western cross-country.”
