Drakos rap lifts Bulldog softball past Bozeman

BOZEMAN – Rian Ferriter pitched a complete game, Gracie Ferriter smacked two doubles and a single, and Taylor Drakos and Ashby Lee knocked in Butte High’s runs as the Bulldogs edged Bozeman High 2-1 Tuesday in a Class AA nonconference high school girls’ softball game.
Drakos’ single in the top of the sixth inning knocked Maddi Jonart home with the go-ahead run and Rian Ferriter held the Hawks scoreless the last two innings as Butte High secured the win.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out base hit by Lee after one of Gracie Ferriter’s doubles. Bozeman pulled even in the bottom of the fourth inning when Paea was hit by a pitch, getting on base ahead of Chloe Burkhart’s run-scoring base hit that tied the score at 1-all.
Jonart came off the bench to rap a single for the Bulldogs in the top of the sixth, stole second base and then ran home on Drakos’ hit. It was Drakos’ second single of the game.
Kamber Leary also had a single in Butte High’s eight-hit attack.
Rian Ferriter spun a four-hitter in going the full seven innings in the circle. She struck out four batters and walked only two. She threw 52 of her 80 pitches for strikes.
Elizabeth Hopkinson had two of Bozeman’s four hits, all singles. Izzy Van Tighem’s single and Burkhart’s run-scoring single were the other hits.
Butte High will return to action on Thursday with a home Western AA Conference game against Helena Capital at 5 p.m. at Stodden Park.
