Dom Robinson takes home Frontier hoops honor

WHITEFISH — Dom Robinson of Montana Western was named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Robinson is a 5-8 senior guard from Tacoma, Washington. Montana Western went 2-0 over the weekend with wins over Nueta Hidatsa 124-57 and Dickinson State (RV) 106-99 in overtime.

Robinson averaged 24.5 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals per game. He was 17 of 28 (61 percent) from the field, 8 of 15 in 3-point field goals (53 percent); and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. Robinson scored 39 points in the overtime victory over Dickinson State.

John Chapman of Montana Tech, Darius Alexander of Lewis-Clark State, Adam Huse of MSU-Northern and Ryan Imhoff of Carroll College were also nominated.

Providence’s McDonagh named Women’s Player of the Week

The league also announced that Stephanie McDonagh of the University of Providence was named the Frontier Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

McDonagh is a 5-9 senior guard from Vancouver, Washington. The Argos downed Benedictine-Mesa (Ariz.) 79-51 and Arizona Christian 65-58.

McDonagh averaged 26.5 points, six rebounds, 2.5 steals and two assists. She was 19 of 38 from the field (50 percent), 9 of 17 3-point field goals (53 percent and 6 of 12 from the free throw line.

Sammy McGree of Montana Tech, Britt Cooper of Montana Western, Jessica Curl of MSU-Northern, Hannah Dean of Carroll College and Lauren Johnson of Lewis-Clark State were also nominated.
