Dogs ranked No. 4 on eve of Rocky Mountain Classic

Butte High’s wrestling team fell one spot to No. 4 in the Class AA coaches poll, which was released today.

The move comes on the eve of the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula.

Bozeman, which beat Butte 42-27 in a dual Tuesday in Bozeman, still holds down the top spot. The Hawks are followed by Billings Senior, Billings West, Butte High, Helena Capital and Great Falls High. (Class AA rankings)

Eight Butte High wrestlers are ranked, with sophomore Kegan Gransbery and junior Kameron Moreno holding the top spots in their weight class.

Gransbery, who is 21-0 on the season, is No. 1 at 103 pounds, while Moreno, who wrestled heavyweight in Bozeman, sits in the top spot at 205 pounds.

Butte High’s Will Queer is ranked No. 2 at 113 pounds, Carl Anderson is No. 3 at 153, and Kole McGrath is fifth at 170. Also, Scout Allen (126 pounds), Anthony Liva (132) and Austin Endy (182) are ranked sixth in their weight class.

The Rocky Mountain Classic, which includes teams from all over the northwestern part of the Untied States, starts at 10 a.m. on Friday. Saturday’s action begins at 9:30 a.m.

Butte Central, meanwhile, will send a contingent of wrestlers to a two-day meet in Miles City. Grappling begins at 9 a.m. each day.
