The Bulldogs have survived and advanced to the quarterfinals of the AA playoffs and tonight they head to the Hawks nest in Bozeman for a week 2 rematch.
Now only 8 teams remain in the Montana AA playoffs.
In their last meeting, Bozeman ran 88 plays and recorded 22 first downs to Buttes 48 plays and 8 first downs in a 39-15 victory at Naranche.
That was a long time ago and while these teams have seen each other once before this season, both teams have grown and matured and have a new identity in these playoffs.
Bozeman a runner up for the State Championship last season has still yet to lose this season and know that anyone that wants to make it to the big stage they have to come through them and their home field.
Kellen Harrison completed 22 of 37 passes last game to go with 3 scores, 417 yards, 1 interception and a QB rating of 114.
Bo Demarias was 14 of 24 for 200 yards 2 touchdowns and an interception with a 95 QB rating.
The Dogs weren’t really able to establish any sort of ground game even though they struck first blood and led 8-0 after quarter 1, they scored 15 first half points and went scoreless in the second half having to abandon the run game.
This time around they will try to establish that early and often with their deadly one two punch in the backfield.
Kade Scheelman looks to build off his 7 tackles and a sack against Billings Senior, Tyler Galle had a forced fumble and Kyler Stenson had a fumble recovery for a touchdown last Friday.
The Bulldog defense looks to do more disrupting this week on the road and make Kellen flustered in the pocket and not allowing him time to read the defense downfield.
The winner advances to the semifinals next week, as Buttes travels to Bozeman and Billings West travels to Helena to play the defending champ Bruins.
Missoula sentinel will travel to 8-1 Kalispell Glacier and Helena High travels to # 2 Gallatin High Raptors.
We will have a story after the conclusion of the game and stats are complied. We will also post live score updates to “X” and our Facebook page.
The Butte High School Football page will also be posting live updates on their Facebook page.
You can stream the game live on NFHS Network.
