Butte High’s golfers open the Class AA State golf tournament Monday at the Meadow Lark Country Club looking for some repeat performances, and maybe more.
The tournament, which was postponed from last week by weather and then moved up a day by the forecast, starts with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
Butte High senior Kaven Noctor and sophomore Kodie Hoagland are looking to repeat as All-State golfers. That distinction goes to individuals who place in the top 15 on the leaderboard.
The Bulldog girls are looking for their second trophy in as many years. Last year, the Bulldogs captured third place.
Hoagland, a sophomore, placed 15th last year. Senior Grace Luoma and juniors Kennedy Lean and Ella Prigge are also back from last year’s trophy-winning squad. New this year is junior MacKenzie Finnegan.
Noctor placed 10th at last year’s state tournament at the Butte Country Club. The senior returns to state for one last shot at the title. His performance during the summer, when he won his age group at the Montana State Junior Championship, shows he is a true contender for the crown.
Classmate Ty Insko brings state experience for the Bulldogs. Promising freshman Jack Prigge and seniors Hunter Salcido and J.T. Sullivan will also play for the Butte High boys.
The 36-hole tournament wraps up on Tuesday.
Bozeman is the defending champion the boys’ and girl’s side. The Bozeman girls are looking for their fourth straight state title.
