GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s Abby Dodge had another big day Saturday.
The junior jumped her way to the triple jump title at the annual Optimist Meet at Memorial Stadium. Dodge leapt 34 feet, 1 ¼ inches to top the field that included all 14 Class AA teams.
That mark beat the qualifying mark for the Class AA State meet, but Dodge had already qualified with a jump of 35-5 ½.
Dodge placed in the top five in three events. She took third in the high jump by clearing 4-11, and placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-1 ¼.
As a team, the Bulldogs placed 12th with 22 points. Billings West captured the title with 111. Missoula Sentinel took second at 78, while Kalispell Glacier took third at 68.5. (Results)

Other Bulldog top performers were Mar Sorini, who took eighth in the 400 and second in the 200, and Hailee Regan, who placed eighth in the shot put and 20th in the javelin.
Bulldogs to also place in the top 20 were Gabbie Parini (tie for 12th in the high jump), Alexis Brown (14th, discus), Mijah McLeod (16th, 200) and Lauren Sullivan (20th, shot put).
Next up for the Bulldogs is Tuesday’s Top 10 meet in Missoula. The team will also compete in Butte Central’s Tomich Invitational next Saturday.
