DILLON — University of Montana Western head men’s basketball coach Mike Larsen has announced the signing of local standout Michael Haverfield to an NAIA Letter of Intent.
Haverfield averaged 17 points a game his junior season before an injury forced him to miss the rest of the season. For his career, he shoots 42 percent from the floor and 79 percent from the charity stripe. He averages 2.4 rebounds a game and 1.1 assists.
Haverfield also brings athleticism and championship experience. He has lettered three times in both basketball and track and has won Class A state championships in Basketball (2015-16, 16-17), track (2016), and football (2016).
A member of the National Honor Society, Haverfield is earned Academic All-State in basketball and track three times. He will graduate from Beaverhead County High School in the spring of 2019. He plans on majoring in physical therapy and sports medicine at Montana Western.
Haverfield is the son Gary and Terri Haverfield. He will join his brother Tanner, who is currently redshirt freshman with on the Bulldog roster.
