Dillon, Stevi girls win; there will be a challenge

The Dillon Beavers and Stevensville Yellowjackets girls’ basketball teams kept their seasons alive this morning at the Southwestern A Divisional tournament.

Dillon beat Corvallis 42-31 at the Maroon Activities Center, while Stevensville beat Anaconda 40-38 at the Butte Civic Center. The Beavers and Yellowjackets will meet in the third-place game at 3:30 p.m. today at the MAC.

The winner of the third-place game will get to challenge the second-place team because Dillon and Corvallis didn’t face Butte Central and Hamilton in the tournament.

Dillon 42, Corvallis 31
Courtney Linder scored 11 points to lead the Beavers, who used a 12-4 run in the first quarter to take control. Audrey Schurg scored eight points in the win, whil Alex Rouse scored seven and Cierra Lamey netted six.

Lakyn Conners closed her prep career by scoring 13 points to lead the Blue Devils.


Stevensville 40, Anaconda 38
Anaconda sophomore Lacee Moodry saw her game-tying shot go in and out at the buzzer as the Copperheads’ season came to a close.

Future Montana Grizzly Alycia Sims scored 21 points and pulled down 21 rebounds to lead the Yellowjacets to the victory.

Moodry scored 10 points to lead the Copperheads, who close the season at 7-14. Taylor Flynn added seven points and 12 rebounds, while Tyler Baustadt scored seven points off the bench.

The Copperheads team is made up of five juniors six sophomores and a freshman.
