Dillon, Frenchtown girls win loser-out games

Dillon and Frenchtown survived loser-out games Saturday morning to advance to the third-place game at the Western A Divisional girls’ basketball tournament.

The Beavers and Broncs will meet at 4:45 p.m. at the Butte Civic Center. Both teams also qualified for the Class A State tournament which is in two weeks in Belgrade.

Dillon beat Hamilton 52-41 at the Civic Center, while Frenchtown knocked off Corvallis 37-34 at the Maroon Activities Center.

Dillon 52, Hamilton 41

Brinley Fitzgerald and Alex Rouse combined to score 30 points to lead the Beavers, who led 24-17 at halftime. Stat sheet

Fitzgerald hit 6 of 7 field goals and scored 17 points. Rouse buried three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for the Beavers, who also got nine points from Rachael Nye.

Reilly Rostad scored 12 to lead Hamilton in the season-ending loss.

Frenchtown 37, Corvallis 34
The Broncs outscored Corvallis 8-2 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Stat sheet

Kira Doyle scored 10 points to lead Frenchtown, which also got eight points from Corine Sanderson. Penny Jessop, who scored four points, grabbed 10 rebounds.

Alivia Williams scored 10 points for Corvallis.
