Dillon boys roll into Southwestern A semifinals

An upset bid quickly turned into a rout.

The Dillon boys’ basketball team overcame a slow start to beat Stevensville 68-42 in the first round of the Southwestern A District tournament at the Maroon Activities Center. (Stats)

The win sets up a Dillon-Butte Central matchup in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. semifinal game.Hamilton will play Frenchtown in the 3:30 p.m. semifinal. Stevensville heads to a loser-out game Saturday morning at Butte High’s Richardson Gym. (Bracket)

Stevensville started fast and held an 18-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Beavers took the lead for good with a 17-7 run in the second quarter. They took command in the third quarter.

Michael Haverfield scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead four Dillon players in double figures scoring. Justus Peterson scored 11, while Braden Anderson and Dylan Cervelli each scored 10 points.

The Beavers (13-6) have won five out of their last six games.

Logan Roth hit six 3-poitners and scored 20 points to lead the Yellowjackets (2-17). Colby Meeds scored eight, and Sean Craft came off the bench to toss in seven.
