Dillon boys advance to third-place game

The loser-out games of the Southwest A district basketball tournament saw the Dillon boys advance to the third-place game. The Dillon girls, though, bowed out of the tournament.

The win also means the Beavers will play in next week’s Western A Divisional tournament in Hamilton. The top four teams move on.

Jace Fitzgerald scored 20 points, and Michael Haverfield poured in 18 as the Dillon boys beat Corvallis 68-45 in the early-morning game at the Maroon Activities Center. (Stats)

Cole Truman added 13 points in the Dillon victory. Caleb Warnken’s 15 points led the Blue Devils. Caeson Jessop scored 11.

Dillon will play Frenchtown for third place at 3:30 p.m. at the MAC. The Broncs beat Stevensville 59-44 in the other loser-out game at the Richardson Gym.

Kiya Shelton’s 12 points paced Frenchtown’s girls to a 42-22 win over Dillon at the MAC. Faith Rebich scored 10 points. (Stats)

Tylia DeJohn scored seven points to lead the Beavers in the season-ending loss.

Frenchtown will play Corvallis in the 5 p.m. third-place game at the MAC. Corvallis topped Stevensville 46-33 at the Richardson Gym.
