DILLON — Montana Tech’s volleyball team got back in the win column Thursday night, but it wasn’t easy.
The Orediggers beat Montana Western in a four-set Frontier Conference match at the Straugh Gymnasium.
After Tech won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-14, the Bulldogs bounced back with a 25-22 victory to avoid the seep. The Orediggers barely avoided a tiebreaker by escaping with a thrilling 28-26 victory in the fourth set. (Stats)
Nicole Peacock tallied 16 kills to lead three Orediggers in that category as Tech improved to 1-2 in Frontier play and 9-6 overall. Katie Wiley added 13 kills, while Jordan Danz killed 11.
The Orediggers out killed the Bulldogs 59-42 in the victory.
Senior setter Makenzie Bauck dished out 47 assists to lead the Oredigger offensive. She also registered 15 digs.
Sabrina Hopcroft led the backcourt defense with 19 digs. Peacock (12) and Danz (11) also reached double figures in digs.
Tessaa Miller’s paced the Bulldogs, who fell to 2-1 and 7-8. Callie Hanson added 28 assists and 13 digs, and Dylan Fowler recorded 20 digs.
Montana Tech is back in on the road Saturday when the Orediggers take on Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
Western will host Lewis-Clark State on Sunday afternoon.
