HAVRE — Thursday night was a very good night for Montana Tech’s basketball teams.
The Orediggers swept a Frontier Conference doubleheader with MSU-Northern at the Armory Gymnasium. Tech’s women won 71-61 before the Orediggers men won 75-66.
The victory lifts the Oredigger men to 4-1 in Frontier Conference play, and four out of the five league games have been played on the road.
Sindou Diallo and Caleb Bellach scored 16 points apiece to lead the Orediggers (15-5 overall). Taylor England scored 13, while Keeley Bake came off the bench to score 10 for Tech, which led 38-29 at halftime. (Stats)
The Orediggers also got seven points from Drew Huse, six from Derrius Collins, three from Michael Ure and two apiece from Bridger Larson and Cody Baumstarck.
Jesse Keltern’s 18 points led the Lights, who fell to 13-5 and 3-2. David Harris and Mascio McCadney each scored 17, and C.J. Nelson netted nine.
In the women’s game, the Orediggers outscored the Skylights 46-38 in the second half. (Stats)
The victory is the first in league play for the Orediggers (10-10, 1-4), and four Tech players scored in double figures.
Brooke Heggie’s 19 points and seven rebounds led the way for the Diggers. Tavia Rooney and Dan Urick each scored 14. Rooney grabbed nine rebounds, while Urick added six boards and five assists.
Mollie Peoples scored 12 points for Tech, which got five points and five assists from Madison Allen. Also for the Orediggers, Ally Cleverly scored four points, and Soda Rice tossed in three.
L’Tia Lawrence scored 21 points to lead Northern (7-12, 0-5). Peyton Kehr tallied 19.
The Oredigger men and women will play host to Montana Western Saturday at the HPER Complex. The women play at 2 p.m., and the men tip off at 4.
