The No. 20 Montana Tech men’s basketball team overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to top Montana Western 76-69 in a Frontier Conference game Thursday night at Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)
Caleb Bellach scored 22 points to lead four Orediggers in double figures as Tech outscored Western 50-33 in the second half to overcome the 36-26 halftime shortfall.
Sindou Diallo added 15 points and four assists, and Taylor England and Keeley Bake each scored 11 points. England also grabbed 13 rebounds, and Bake dropped four assists
Drew Huse scored nine points for Tech, which got six from Cody Baumstarck and two from Derrius Collins.
The win lifted the Orediggers to 21-5 overall and 10-1 in conference play. It also includes a three-game series sweep of the Bulldogs. One game, though, was a COVID-related forfeit.
Jamal Stephenson scored 25 points to lead the Bulldogs (15-11, 4-7). Jalen Hodges added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Tanner Haverfield, Max Clark and Ky Kouba scored nine points apiece.
Tech is back on the road Saturday, taking on Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Western will head to Helena to take on Carroll College.
