Diggers grab two more sweeps in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Montana Tech’s volleyball team picked up two more sweeps Saturday at the PBC Sports Commission Classic.

The Orediggers made short work of MidAmerican Nazarene University and Goshen College of Indian to finish the season-opening tournament with a 4-0 record.

Tech beat MidAmerican Nazarene University 25-21, 25-13, 25-13 in its first match of the day. (Stats)

Karina Mickelson tallied nine of Tech’s 38 kills in the match. Olivia Muir added eight, and Maureen Jessop spiked six. McKenna Kaelber handed out 27 assists, and Sarah Hopcroft collected seven digs. Emma McMillan served four aces, and Emma Carvo aced three.

The Orediggers stayed perfect by whipping Goshen 25-15, 25-21, 25-8 (Stats)

Sydney Parks and Taylor Henley each reached double digits with 10 kills in that win. Jessop killed seven. Carvo served six more aces. Jessop added five. Kaelber dished 28 assists, and Hopcroft dug 16.

Tech will host a tournament next week at the Butte Civic Center. The Orediggers will open at 6 p.m. Thursday against Bellevue University.
